Burnout

Sun Aug 30, 2009, 5:35 PM
No, not an idea burnout....but a skill burnout.

I seem to find myself creating tougher and tougher backdrops and images, but I feel like my skills just aren't up to the point where I can truly create the images in my head. When I'm at the point where my work seems more sensitive then real, more like the lines are representing a line rather then being a line.

I dunno. I feel like my ideas are becoming more and more vivid...but my peaces aren't. I keep practicing, but I just don't seem to be getting better. I dunno...what do yall think?

I think I might take a Hiatus for a while.

Cheer up R.W., I know how you feel (I really know how you feel). I have some great ideas, but my skills are medium at best (most likly lower). I don't let it get me down, & you shouldn't either. :D :D

hey man, a hiatus is actually helpful....but one thing you need to do is forget about trying to find inspiration and just let it find you instead. ^^

let me put it to you this way...a train can go for miles on one batch of coal, but eventually it needs to rest or it will break down.

^^; did that come out as well as I hoped? xD

or do the ultamate stress relief...go to SERM and Highball up and down the hill with 104 a few times! Always puts a smile on your face. XD

you get used to it after a while....and then you have the hot sticky summer days or the wet rainey fall days that make you stop and go "What the hell am I doing?"

Sorry to hear, but I suppose such is the way of life, sometimes...just remember, as meh as you might think your skills are, there's people like me who's skills are even worse! :P

Don't feel bad about taking a hiatus, man. It's totally understandable.

aha!

I am no stranger to this crap, trust me.

You are having the artists equivalent of writers block in the SECOND fashion, where you have tons of ideas and inspiration, but just cant get it down on the paper.

I recently had a LONNNGGG bout of that, but the dam really broke with that picture "Golden Dreams", (I have another on the way)

trust me, it doesnt last forever, there is really no way to fix it except wait it out, because that way, when the dam comes crashing down, it feels all the sweeter. its like one day, a lightbulb comes on, you draw something, and bing, its exactly what you wanted.
